Smaller Gardens: Real Solutions for Designing & Planting in Limited Space

Events:

Down to Earth Gardening: Working with the Reality Of Your Site
Keynote Speaker: Helen Dillon

Practical, opinionated, and a hands-on gardener to the core, Helen Dillon has created one of the world’s iconic gardens in Dublin, Ireland. Dillon will show how to take a fresh look at an existing garden, evaluates its potential – for design and plants – and brings new concepts and an innovative approach to even the smallest space.

Natural Design for the Shaded Garden
Presented by C. Colston Burrell

Blending nature and culture through artistic design Burrell specializes in environmentally friendly gardens.  With experience in designing and making gardens from Zone 4 to 8,  he is adept at combining the best of native plants with choice specimens from the global garden.

Hostas, Hellebores & Hydrangeas
Presented by John Elsley

They’re three of the classic plants for the shaded and partially shaded garden. John Elsley, a renowned plantsman and hands-on gardener who has hybridized both hellebores and hostas, and searched out many of the very best hydrangeas, will reveal not only new and exciting selections but also his all time winning plants for your smaller garden.

Light Fantastic - Transitioning from Sun to the Edge of Shade
Presented by Stephanie Cohen

No one knows better than the ‘Perennial Diva’ the best new perennials that suit smaller gardens.  Forget the thugs, the finicky floppers and the rampant growers, you’ll discover deceptively tough, elegant plants that take the worst of the weather and keep on performing. From late winter, through the heat of summer to the last days of fall these are the plants to choose to have your garden flow seamlessly from sun into the shade.
